Muskan Rastogi, who with his lover Sahil Shukla confessed to kill and dismembered her husband, Saurabh Rajput, spent a restless night in the prison of the district of Chaudhary Charan Singh Singh here, showing signs of extreme anguish, confirmed prison officials.

Viresh Raj Sharma, Superintendent of the Senior prison, said: “Muskan and her lover, Sahil Shukla, were taken to jail around 6 pm on Wednesday. Muskan was placed in the female barracks (barracks number 12), while Sahil was assigned to the men’s barracks (Barrack number 18)”. “Muskan remained silent and did not interact with anyone. He either ate the food provided,” he added.

While prison sources said Muskan cried throughout the night, the prison superintendent refused to comment on this.

The sources also said that Muskan and Sahil asked to be placed in adjacent barracks.

On Wednesday, the duo was presented at the Court of the Judicial Judge Chief and sent to the 14 -day judicial custody. Outside the court, they were attacked by a group of lawyers, who physically assaulted them. Sahil’s clothes broke during the altercation, and the police had to intervene to guarantee their safety.

Rajput’s body, which was dismembered and locked in a drum full of cement, was brought home after a post mortem exam.

The body was cremated Wednesday night.

The investigation revealed that Muskan and Sahil were known from childhood, after having studied class one class together.

They were reconnected through a WhatsApp group created by a mutual classmate, which led to a revived relationship in 2019, three years after Muskan and Saurabh’s marriage.

The two met in person for the first time from school at a party organized by the WhatsApp group in a shopping center in Meerut, where its love story began.

Police said the duo planned and killed Saurabh because they considered him an obstacle in their relationship.
