Premier League Irish: Rodney Mcaaree ‘Over The Moon’ with Victoria Out of Cliftonville

Dungannon Swifts chief Rodney Mcaaree said he was “on the moon” with his 2-0 victory against Cliftonville In solitude.

After the Reds dominated the first half, the goals of the second half of James Knowles and John McGovern helped the swift to win forms again in the league.

And Mcaree was delighted with the second half of his team to take home the three points that could be vital in his search to ensure a place among the top six.

“I am on the moon, we had a bad start, Cliftonville was the first outstanding half and struggled to face its form and movement,” he told BBC Sport Ni.

“We were more compact in the second half, and we used the ball better. We obtained a free kick on the edge of the box and Knowles scored and then it is a great installment of Leo Alves and John McGovern rises to look at it.

“We don’t show any nerve, and we restrict Cliftonville very little and kept a clean blade.”

The Swifts chief praised goalkeeper Alex Henderson, who was making his first start of the season after the Declan Dunne red card on the weekend.

“Alex has not really played football, he is a very capable goalkeeper, and made three individual salvages in the first half, his handling was good and grew in confidence, and we are delighted by him.”
