Govinda reflects on the slaughter case and rejecting James Cameron’s avatar

The veteran Bollywood Govinda actor has opened about the long legal battle derived from an altercation on the set of his 2008 film Money toh love hai. The actor, accused of slapping a fan, described the case as “lucky” for him and said he managed to dismiss him after carrying out a sting operation in his accuser.

The 9 -year legal battle

The incident dates back to 2008 when a man named Santosh was supposedly slapped by Govinda while visiting the movie’s set. Santosh then presented a case against the actor, demanding financial compensation for the assault. The legal dispute was extended more than nine years before it was resolved in 2017.

Talking about the case in an interview with Mikesh Khanna on his YouTube channel, Govinda shared his perspective:

“The case turned out to be lucky for me. Someone was wearing badly and slapped it. The matter lasted for years until a friend suggested that he made a sting operation. I secretly remembered the accuser asking for RS30-40 million to withdraw the case and presented that evidence to the court.”

Govinda also said that his decision to intervene was based on reports that Santosh had missed the crew members. However, he expressed his disappointment that those who had supported the past did not support him.

The matter was finally resolved in 2017 when the Supreme Court advised Govinda to issue an apology. Santosh then withdrew his compensation demand.

Govinda’s career in recent years

Once it was a reigning star in the 90s, Govinda saw a resurgence in the mid -2000s before his presence on the screen became sporadic. His last important roles were in Fryday (2018) and Rangeela Raja (2019).

In addition to addressing the case of slapped, the actor also arrived at the headlines to affirm that he had rejected an offer to star in James Cameron’s Avatar for a huge sum.
