Quincy driver injured in accident

Quincy – A traffic accident on Wednesday morning seriously damaged a school bus and wounded its driver, according to Quincy Public Schools Superintendent Kevin Mulvey.

The bus driver’s shoulder injury is not potentially deadly, Mulvey said.

The bus, one of the district minibuses, led a student home shortly after 11:30 am, when the driver of a SUV ran a red light on Summer and Washington streets, causing the collision, Mulvey said.

Wednesday was an early launch for the students of the primary and intermediate schools of Quincy.

The student was not injured. A relative led to his house from the accident scene, Mulvey said. The authorities have not yet revealed the condition of the woman who conducts the SUV.

Mulvey described the bus as in “enough bad shape.” The images taken after the accident show extensive damage to their grill, front fenders and hood.

The police closed the road to investigate the accident. Officials have not yet published a full accident report.
