The last movement of Boston’s red socks for the maximum prospect Kristian Campbell

Boston’s red socks have not had a second reliable base of every day since Dustin Pedroia’s career was derailed by injuries in 2017.

Eduardo Núñez, José Peraza, Kiké Hernández, Trevor Story, Christian Arroyo and Enmanuel Valdéz have started each on the second day of opening in the last six years.

Finally, after almost a decade of waiting, the team may have found their answer in the position.

Vaughn Grissom is certainly not online to be the apparent heir, since the red socks opted for Triple-A Wednesday. The young man of Atlanta Braves, who was once promising, returned to Boston as part of the Chris sales agreement, reached .190 the last regular season and was hitting .176 in spring training.

Grisom’s departure has cleared the way, however, so that Kristian Campbell enters the center of attention.

Campbell is hitting .158 with an OPS of .449 in the Pomelo League game, so it is not as if it had consolidated as a star is spring. Even so, the number 7 prospect in baseball has shown flashes in defense and has reached the base safely 11 times in its last 10 games.

The 22 -year -old bathed .330 with an OPS of .997 in the children last season, so there is potential waiting to be used.

Manager Alex Cora has also been giving Marcelo Mayer’s representatives in the second base, keeping him in the race for a place in his own list.

Unlike Campbell, Mayer has been crushing this spring, hitting .357 with an OPS of .973. The 22 -year -old campocort is classified as the 12 -12 -term leaflet in the league by MLB Pipeline.

David Hamilton, who registered a 2.6 war as a 26 -year -old rookie in 2024, is the headline in the second. Public service men Romyzález and Nick Urdard are also fighting for the major league banking points.

Even with Grissom out of the scene, Campbell will have to overcome at least one of Harard or González to make the inaugural day list. And if you do not defeat Hamilton for the initial work, it may be better to be a regular time of triple-a game, independently.

Mayer is fighting the same fight, although his most direct path to specialties could be linked to perpetually questionable health in history in the campocorto.

Anyway, it may not spend much time before the red socks have their second base of the future.

The Boston opening contest against the Texas Rangers is scheduled to start at 4:05 pm et on March 27, giving the red socks for a week to solve things in its depth table of the painting.
