Kannur: The Minister of Income, K Rajan, said that a special package is being considered to acquire land to develop an airport track. The minister was answering a question raised in the assembly of Mla Sajev Joseph.

The MLA stressed that the process of land acquisition for the development of the track has been in progress for approximately eight years, causing anguish to around 200 families. He mentioned that seven houses were completely destroyed due to heavy rains in 2018, while many others were damaged. Although the rent was paid for six months, no greater benefits were provided, and many residents face mortgage execution procedures.

Once this is done, compensation for land owners will be calculated and paid. The government is also working on a special package to help families who will lose their homes, Rajan added.
