The IPL will begin in its 18th edition in 2025, with a match between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the gardens of Eden in Kolkata. Virat Kohli will be the star player that everyone would expect, since he will become the first player to play 18 seasons for a franchise in the history of the League. However, in this same tournament, one of Kohli’s former teammates in the U-19 team of India who won the World Cup in 2008 will not appear as a player but an arbitrator.
Tanmay Shrivastava, who was a key member of the U-19 team of India captained by Virat Kohli that won the World Cup in 2008, has been officially announced as an arbitrator for IPL 2025. Shrivastava also played the IPL in 2008 and 2009 for Punjab Kings, where he played 3 tickets and scored only 8 races. Therefore, he becomes the first person in the world to appear in the IPL as a player and referee.
In a publication about X, the Crickt Association of Uttar Pradesh (UPCA) made the announcement that Tanmay Srivastava will be an referee in the IPL 2025.

“A true player never leaves the field, just changes the game. Wishing Tanmay Srivastava the best since he puts on a new hat with the same passion!” They wrote.

Who is Tanmay Srivastava?

Tanmay Srivastava was a left -handed opening batter who represented Uttar Pradesh at domestic level. He was one of the key members of India U-19 team that won the 2008 World Cup. He scored 262 races, ending as the best Tournamwnt scorer. He scored for India in the final against South Africa with a blow of 46 races.

He had a successful national career by scoring 4918 races in first -class Cricket. He also accumulated 1728 executed on the list of a Crick also. He retired from the Cricket five years ago. After retiring, he trained to become a referee and has officiated in some national games. The IPL 2025 will be the first major Srivastava tournament as a referee.
