Teenager arrested after two pedestrians hit car

A teenage motorist was arrested after two pedestrians were run over by a car and seriously injured in Donegal County in the early hours of Monday morning.

It happened in Lower Main Street in Letterkenny around 03:00 GMT.

Gardaí (Irish police) arrested the driver of the car, who is in his adolescence, on the scene and he remains in custody.

They said that the incident had been sent to the Ombudsman of Garda due to an “previous interaction” between them and the driver of the car.

The two male pedestrians have been taken to the Hospital of the University of Letterkenny, where they are being treated for serious injuries.

Currently, the scene is being examined by researchers from Forensic Collision of Garda and are implemented.

Gardaí is attracting witnesses to be presented, particularly anyone who was in the area between Roundabout Dry Arch and Oldtown Road between 02:30 and 03:30.

They also want road users that they can have camera images (including the board camera) so that the images are available for Gardaí.
