The Canadian dollar extends the decrease as the trade war intensifies

Canbera (DPA -AFX) – The Canadian dollar extended the decrease against its main counterparts in the New York session on Tuesday, after the president of the United States, Donald Trump, announced additional tariffs on the imports of steel and aluminum of Canada.

Trump announced in Truth Social that it will increase tariffs on 50% steel and aluminum products from 25% from tomorrow.

The Trump’s announcement was in response to the ontarium implementation of a 25% surcharge on electricity exported to us

Trump also threatened to impose more tariffs on car imports in April.

The Loonie fell to a minimum of 1 week of 1,4521 against Back Green, about the minimum of 5858 against the euro and about a minimum of 2 years of 101.45 against Yen.

The Loonie retired to 0.9106 against the Australian, from an early 4 -day maximum of 0.9040.

The currency can challenge the support around 1,465 against the Back Greenback, 1.60 against the euro, 97.00 against the YEN and 0.92 against the Australian.
