Caitlin Clark receives great praise from the new fever teammate Sophie Cunningham

Indiana’s new fever guard, Sophie Cunningham, shared great praise towards her teammate Caitlin Clark while talking to the media after arriving at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Tuesday.

Cunningham, who was part of an exchange of four teams that saw her from Phoenix Mercury to fever in January, gave Clark credit for his impact on basketball.

“She has changed our game in the best possible way and in every way,” Cunningham told journalists on Tuesday. “I want you to do the thing and everything I need from me, I will be here.”

Cunningham previously connected to Clark Briefly last summer in the WNBA stars game. It was also praising how Clark has handled the pressure and attention he has been in it since he played for Iowa, and hopes to support his new teammate.

“She has only had a lot of pressure on her shoulders,” Cunningham said about Clark. “Nobody has walked through its steps, so it is really easy to judge and simply say things. At the end of the day, we all need to empower ourselves and be there for each other. He has done a lot, and that kind of rookie, to draw attention to our league and it is necessary. That is what we have always wanted. Why would we not hug them and make sure they are good?”

Cunningham is one of several players that fever has brought to reinforce its list around Clark after falling into the first round of the playoffs last season. They have also added Kelsey Mitchell, Dewanna Bonner, Natasha Howard and Sydney Colson to the team, as well as new chief coach Stephanie White.
