Chicago Bears trade details for Chiefs Joe Thuney’s All-Pro Guard

The privileged information of the NFL Ian Rappaport gave the news on Wednesday morning that The Chicago Bears were exchanging for the left guard of the Kansas City bosses, Joe Thuney..

Now, we have the terms of trade. And it is safe to say that the Bears obtained a robbery.

For a player with Thuney’s curriculum (4 times All-Pro, 3 times Pro Bowler), Chiefs have almost nothing in return. A fourth round selection is usually considered nothing more than a lottery ticket in the NFL draft, and it is not even an choice that will be available in the next draft. The fourth round will be for 2026, instead.

While the compensation is surprisingly small, it makes sense given the current disparate state of the two teams. Chiefs are still firmly in their window for the containment of the Super Bowl. They need to clarify the space of the lid and get younger and trade, Thuney helps them do that, especially after labeling Trey Smith.

For the bears, they bring a fire power to the offensive line and only cost them a future selection of fourth round. The best part of this is that the Bears were able to add a Star Pass protector to their alignment without losing a single of their Draft selections of day 2 in the NFL 2025 draft.
