Worcester man charged in death of man whose body was found in Hubbardston Woods on Saturday

A Worcester man is arrested for allegedly using a metal baseball bat to beat a former employee to death in a wooded area in Hubbardston on Saturday, according to a statement from Worcester District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.’s office. ., and court records.

Ryan A. Wilcox, 32, is scheduled to be arraigned in Worcester District Court on Monday on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, armed assault with intent to kill and assault with a weapon dangerous, prosecutors said.

Mitchell Burke’s body was discovered around 10 a.m. Saturday lying in a driveway on Brigham Street in Hubbardston, prosecutors said. Burke was 32 years old and resided in Worcester. He suffered serious head injuries, according to court records.

According to court records, Burke previously worked for Wilcox and the two men met on New Year’s Eve. During an interview with state police on Sunday, Wilcox allegedly admitted that he hit him with a metal baseball bat several times, which led to his arrest, according to court records.

It was not immediately known what sparked the violence between the two men.

The investigation is ongoing, prosecutors said.
