VIDEO: United States hit by snow and ice due to powerful winter storm from coast to coast

TO powerful winter storm moving through the Midwest and Plains is producing snow and ice, causing dangerous travel conditions and is expected to affect millions more as it moves across the country toward the east coast.

Approximately 27,000 people are without power in Kansas and Missouriand the Missouri State Highway Patrol has responded to 668 calls since the storm hit the state.

Kansas and Missouri Department of Transport Officials have been working hard to clear roads of ice and snow. Several highways in Kansas and western Missouri were closed due to black ice or crashes caused by winter conditions.

A video released by the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) in Kansas City showed trucks working to clear snow from Interstate 435.

“It’s a great day to stay home, make some French toast and watch some American football. It is NOT a day to be on the roads. Our teams are working hard in the storm,” MoDOT said in a post for X Sunday morning.

Near Saint Louis, sleet fell into UnionMissouri, covering the sidewalks with a slippery layer of ice.
