Psychologist accused of raping patients with different abilities at his home in Belgium

Brussels:

A psychologist at a Belgian nursing home for people with disabilities has been arrested on charges of raping and sexually assaulting multiple patients there, authorities said Thursday.

Prosecutors said the man, who has not been identified, also faces forgery charges, as investigators believe he submitted false qualifications to get hired.

The 47-year-old woman worked as a psychologist at Les Coquelicots, a daycare center for differently-abled adults in Anderlues, a small town near the southern city of Charleroi.

Sandrine Vairon, from the Charleroi prosecutor’s office, told AFP that the suspect was accused of “more than ten” rapes and sexual assaults.

He was arrested in early December following a complaint from one of his alleged victims, before being charged and placed in preventive detention.

The suspect denies all accusations.
