Butler County Basketball’s Ty Price commits to UT Martin

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) – Butler County High School four-star guard Ty Price announced his commitment to the UT Martin Skyhawks on Friday afternoon.

Price was joined by family, friends and the Bears community as he revealed an orange UT Martin jersey underneath his jacket.

“UT Martin was my home away from home. Obviously, they have an exciting playing style that fits my game very well. The staff believes in me and it’s an advantage to be closer to home as well,” Price said. “I’m excited. I can’t wait to get down there. Obviously, I’m going to focus on this senior season. Try to get us to a state championship, but I’ll be ready to make a contribution as a freshman when I get there.”

Price has been the leading scorer at every school he has attended during his high school career. As a freshman at South Warren High School in Bowling Green, KY, he totaled 517 points for an average of 17.2 points and 3.0 rebounds per game.

Price returned to his hometown of Butler County for the 2022-2023 season, where he scored a whopping 1,000 points as a sophomore. That year he averaged 31.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.

In his most recent season, Price led the Bears with 929 points in 32 games. As a junior, he averaged 29 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. Price helped lead the Butler County team to its first Third Region title and punch its ticket to the KHSAA Sweet 16 for the first time in school history.

“I think something I can use at the next level is just leading by example. Whether it’s my voice or not, just never hang my head or hesitate on the next shot as long as I continue to work hard and believe in my teammates,” Price added.

Price will sign with the Skyhawks in November along with teammate and WKU commit Lawson Rice in November.
