The fate of the beginner or the red flag for the defense of the Nets?

The defensive problems of the Brooklyn Nets have been the most dangerous enemy of the team since the spare of the star game. Through the inability to close strictly answered games, especially against Top competition, last night a star was born in TD Garden.

When the Nets fell to the current Boston Celtics champion for the fourth time in the 2024-25 season of the NBA, the Warm eaves Baylor Scheierman stole the show. Selected with selection 30 in the draft last summer, Scheierman had appeared in just 18 competitions, averaging less than two points per game.

That was until the rookie closed the season of the season against Brooklyn practically on his own.

Scheierman finished the 104-96 victory with 20 points while fired 6 of 7 from Deep, four of which arrived in the fourth quarter. He showed a similar elite shooting skill while starring Creighton throughout his university career, but had not yet seen that this ability resulted in the professional level.

Did the rupture show only the fate of the beginner, or a more accusation of the defense of the Nets?

According NBA.comBrooklyn is tied with the Philadelphia 76ers for Defense League 25 Classification. This classification explains the defensive qualification, the opponent points to ball losses, second chance points and points in the paint. While some of the numbers suggest that Nets have not been as poor as it seems, an inability to contain their opponents has deranged an impulse of half -season playoffs.

Granting 40 points to Stephen Curry is not so alarming, but they are the actions of the monsters of the non-Top-15 talents that have become lethal. The Spurs Guard, Devin Vassell, dropped 37 in Brooklyn in early March, the Bulls Guard, Coby White, exploded for 31 in a fundamental fight of the East Conference and the Lakers Guard, Gabe Vincent, seemed to be the best player on the floor when the Nets met the angels.

Perhaps, Scheierman’s race night was a mixture of both. It was clearly at the time, feeling that the crowd exploded when each shot sank through the network. But Brooklyn was not doing much either to prevent the next triple from falling.

It is no longer in the position for the final place of the East Conference, the Nets seem to be centered more on the future than to win in the current. Although that may be the case, the general manager Sean Marks and Chief coach Jordi Fernández must address the defensive problems that have affected the second half of the season this summer.

Whether through the free agency or NBA draft of 2025, finding perimeter defenders to avoid such actions must be a priority as the year one of the Brooklyn reconstruction comes to an end.
