The community cries the loss of a 14 -year -old girl in Garland run over who seriously injured her brother

A road sign displaced along a large highway by garlands marks the place where The tragedy hit the community on Saturday Night, when a 14 -year -old girl was killed and her 16 -year -old brother was seriously injured in an outrage.

Just after 10:15 pm on Saturday, Garland’s police said Stetson Ybarbo, 30, from Rowlett, was accelerating east in East Oates Road when his truck left the road and hit the two teenagers along with several cars parked near Miami Drive’s intersection.

“You never expect anything like that to happen, especially when you see these people with whom you were just talking,” said Barry Fleming.

Fleming said he worked in the corner store, at the intersection of East Oates Road and Broadway Boulevard, when he heard something horrible outside happened.

“They left the store, and that was when we listened to things of shock.

Fleming said the two teenagers had just bought in the store moments before being beaten.

“Our evidence suggests that the vehicle was traveling at a high speed of speed at that time, went through the intersection, crossed the road to the grass covered area and continued driving to the east where the two pedestrians were,” said Garland Police Lieutenant Pedro Barineau.

Garland Police said the driver reached several street signs and crashed into three vehicles parked on the street. This destroyed consequence remains a day later.

“What we are seeing here is like a tragedy. We have two teenagers, a 14 -year -old woman who lost her life and a 16 -year -old girl who was transported in serious condition,” Barineau said.

Barineau said the two teenagers were brothers; The police have not identified the victims due to their ages.

“Distractions in a vehicle can make a vehicle deviate from the road and cause an accident. Intoxication, alcohol or drugs, can also make someone drive well and leave a road, so it is very part of the investigation,” said Barineau.

Police said the witnesses informed having seen Ybarbo flee from the scene with a child after the accident, without helping any of the victims.

“Emotionally, it bothers me. I’m going to start crying again. He’s bothering me. Anyone, I didn’t have to be from the neighborhood. All I had to be is someone. I care about people,” Fleming said.

Fleming began a monument to remember the victim. He said that speeding is an important problem in the area.

“They are running maniac, drag races,” Fleming said. “They get these old trucks that look and feel low and those things, and go here and run to another. The Camaro are running around here.”

The neighbors celebrate a vigil in the light of the candles where the accident occurred at 6 pm on Monday.

The investigation is ongoing.
