Weiss obtained unauthorized access to student athletes databases of more than 100 schools and universities that were maintained by an external supplier, “said a statement from the Department of Justice.” After obtaining access to these databases, Weiss downloaded the information and medical data identifiable personally from more than 150,000 athletes. Weiss also obtained illegal access to social networks, email and/or cloud storage accounts of more than 1,300 students and/or additional students from universities throughout the country.
