Nascar clarifies the rule about the bite in the position of another team

Nascar sent a clarification to the Cup truck teams, Xfinity and Craftsman on Thursday when facing the position of another team.

Nascar’s note occurs after Christopher Bell stopped in the well position of his teammate Chase Briscoe for a loose left wheel to squeeze in the race last week in Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Joe Gibbs Racing had talked for years about what to do if a team car needed a wheel to squeeze after leaving his pitch.

If the wheel had left after Bell left Pit Road, he would have been penalized two laps and had two members of the suspended boxes crew for the next two races. When stopping at the Briscoe post for the service, Bell was only subject to face the box and only had to restart on the back of the field.

Nascar sent the following to the teams about chopping at the position of another:

  • If a vehicle receives service at the boxes of another equipment to correct a security problem, the vehicle will receive a penalty of flag status (restart the tail of the field or the passage) for the vehicle that faces outside the boxes assigned to boxes
    • Some examples of a security problem:
      • Tighten the nuts or nuts of the loose wheel
      • Remove a fuel can
      • Remove a wedge key
      • Remove the cat from under the vehicle
  • If a vehicle receives the service in the boxes of another equipment for competition settings, the vehicle can receive a penalty (s) (s)
