So Dagod Murder the prosecution falls apart, suspects that they will be released from jail

OAKLAND – As part of a guilt agreement stimulating the Prosecutor’s Office on the 2024 murder of rapper Tan Dagod, both suspects have not declared any contest for firearms for a prison penalty that ends this year.

Dominc Gates, 21, and Richard James Romano, 32, did not oppose the possession of firearms. They are scheduled to be sentenced at the end of this year to a two -year prison sentence, but with good behavior Doors and Roman It will be free for July and August, respectively.

As part of the agreement, prosecutors are dismissing The rest of the caseincluding murder charges against both men. They were arrested and accused last year of killing rapper Rising Oakland, Alliauna Green, during an agitated shooting at the great inauguration of a beauty salon that Green was promoting.

But the case took a turn when the police revealed at a hearing in the December court that Green had shot his murderers first, after they allegedly threw weapons near where he was standing with her boyfriend. The defense argued that Green had built a fraudulent violent personality, she invented a story about killing a violent ex -boyfriend and getting his out, and that day he saw the opportunity to support his false story with real violence.

Prosecutors did not immediately comment on the agreement. Romano’s lawyer, Daniel Shriro, issued a statement by saying that the result shows that his client and green acted in self -defense.

“Mrs. Green started the confrontation, threatened to get a gun, and then continued and started the shooting,” Shriro said. “Defective police investigation delayed the truth, but in the end we reached a fair result.”

Is the second time Gates has been involved in a fatal shootingAnd this plea agreement represents the only criminal penalty you have had to pay for it. In June 2023Police identified him as one of several suspicious armed men in a wild shooting that resulted in the death of Idriek Patterson, 23, of Newark, and Anteasa Collins, 25, from Stockton. The prosecutors accused Gates of possessing firearms, but the case was expelled last August, according to the records.

Green, 27, was shot dead on July 13, 2024 in Block 4000 of Telegraph Avenue in Oakland. Police said that Gates and Romano opened fire to her and her boyfriend during a confrontation in the event, and that Green was killed trying to protect her partner. But a clear motive behind the confrontation was never made public.

Under the artistic name Tan Dagod, Green was gaining recognition in the rap scene of the Bay area, especially for an affirmation that he had shot and killed an abusive ex -boyfriend, but avoided the prosecution for it. She increased the anti in this story joking that he had shot the ashes of man in a challenge and smoked them.

After his death, Oakland’s police looked at the whole matter and determined that the story had been a mixture. She had never been suspicious in any homicide investigation, not involving an ex -boyfriend or anyone else. A police detective testified that the story had been invented “by influence.”

Like Green, Gates had been trying to build a career as a rapper of Oakland, under the artistic name BNC 4nero, according to judicial records. He appeared in musical videos with another of the suspects in the double homicide of June 2023.
