Mac Jones: Kyle Shanahan produces every year, I wanted to be close to that

When Mac Jones was entering the league in 2021, it was speculated that the 49ers wrote it once San Francisco changed to number 3 in general.

Obviously, that did not happen, since San Francisco chose Trey Lance and Jones went to New England.

But now, four years after his career, Jones has arrived in the Bay area to be a support of Brock Purdy.

Jones said in a recent interview with the team’s website that the 49ers made him feel comfortable.

“I feel that there are many good people here, Many winners here“Jones said, through David Bonilla from 49erswebzone.com.” So really, I just wanted to surround myself with winners.

“It is a proven system. I personally know Brock, and he has done a great job and has played a really good football in the NFL. So I’ve really been watching him from afar in movies and things, and I just want to learn from him and be a sponge

Jones added that he wants to bring great energy and be a great teammate in 2025.

“I love playing football,” Jones said. “I love having fun and winning. I know there are many winners in this building, and I am looking forward to surrounding myself and being a great teammate.”

After three seasons with New England, Jones appeared in 10 games with seven openings for Jacksonville in 2024. He completed 65.3 percent of his passes for 1,672 yards with eight touchdowns and eight interceptions.
