The Court’s documents reveal that the murder suspect from Idaho Quadruple bought a knife and the victims’ roommates used social networks before calling 911 – Boston News, Weather, Sports

(CNN) – A wave of judicial presentations in the case of quadruple murder against Bryan Kohberger reveals that the suspect bought a knife on Amazon months before the murders and the fourth partners survivors of the victims used social networks before calling 911.

The recently published documents illustrate how defense and prosecution are trying to obtain their most useful evidence presented in the case against the 30 -year -old man accused of killing four students from the Idaho University in a house outside the campus in 2022. A statement of guilt has been presented in the name of Kohberger.

The new presentations of the Prosecutor’s Office show that Kohberger had bought a military style knife, a sheath and a knife sharpener in Amazon in the months before the murders.

State presentations also include a selfie that Kohberger believes on the morning of November 13, 2022, only a few hours after the murders. The selfie shows the suspect smiling at the camera and giving a thumb gesture.

But Kohberger’s lawyers disagree with what they describe as the selective use of telephone records of prosecutors for surviving rooms Dylan Mortensen and Bethany Funke in the early hours of the morning of November 13, 2022.

In a defense presentation published on Wednesday, Kohberger’s lawyer asks why the two roommates were waiting for several hours when they perceived something suspicious on the morning of the murders and when they called 911.

The defense asked the judge to prohibit prosecutors who show the selection of state messages to the jury or allow more telephone records to be admitted in the trial.

‘No one is answering … I’m going crazy’

A series of text messages between Mortensen and Funke revealed fear and panic after they could not reach their roommates around 4:22 am, according to a Recent presentation by the Prosecutor’s Office.

Researchers believe Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin They were killed Between 4 am and 4:25 am

Around 4:22 AM, Mortensen sent a text message to Funke: “No one is responding.” Funke replied: “I already doubt WTF.”

Mortensen then sent a text message to Funke saying that he saw what looked like a masked man at his home. “I’m going crazy,” Mortensen wrote.

Later, Funke sent a text message to Mortensen: “Come to my room” and “Run.”

The records previously published by the prosecutors suggest that Mortensen tried to reach others in the house again around 10:23 am, only after “waking up and realizing that he had not heard of his roommates.”

But the new defense presentation suggests that the roommates were awake and used social networks hours before.

Snapchat, Instagram and several calls to the family before marking 911

Kohberger’s lawyers say that after Mortensen joined Funke in his room, his telephone activity was dark for only three hours.

Funke agreed to Snapchat around 4:37 AM and Instagram shortly after the text exchange, says the defense presentation.

Funke and Mortensen were using their phones again around 8 am, the new defense presents claims.

The defense listed the details of the social networks of Funke and Mortensen and the call activity in the hours after the death of their housemates. Court documents identify Funke and Mortensen by their initials along with other unidentified contacts:

In the motion, Kohberger’s lawyers dispute the prosecution’s claims that Mortensen woke up to realize that his roommates had not responded to their text messages during the night.

Mortensen tried again to reach Goncalves and Mogen from 10:23 am, asking them if they were awake: “Are you?”

The new defense presentation says that Mortensen used Snapchat, Instagram and Tiktok and sent a text message to his father hours before he approached Mogen and Goncalves again.

What to wait at trial

Kohberger’s trial is expected to begin in August.

Prosecutors have indicated that they expect both survivors to testify and wish to use their text messages to illustrate the night line.

But defending lawyer Anne Taylor has pointed out what she described as inconsistencies In interviews of application of the law with Mortensen and Funke.

Prosecutors also plan to call police witnesses to testify about a test they did to demonstrate that it was possible to commit four homicides in a period of only minutes, including the time to walk and from a car and eliminate blood covered clothes, says a defense presentation.

Kohberger’s lawyers say they need an expert to testify about their development coordination disorder to show the jury that he was not physically able to commit the crime that argue that they required such speed and coordination.
