“We get sick mentally after reading the request. At least 20 times he has written ‘consensual relationship’ in the SLP (special license request). What is the girl’s age? You say in the request that she was a minor,” PTI told Judge Surya Kant.

The bank wanted to clarify the fact with the lawyer that the consent was irrelevant if the survivor was a minor.

“Every paragraph that has written ‘consensual relationship.

“Are you an aor (defender in the registry)?” The bank asked.

AORS are authorized lawyers to present cases and allegations in the Supreme Court. The Superior Court performs AOR exams for lawyers.

“How are these people qualifying (for the aor)? You do not know the basic law … 20 times that you have said ‘consensual relationship’ … Tomorrow you will say that there was a relationship agreed with an 8 -month -old boy,” added the bank.

The lawyer apologized to the bank, which later issued notices to the police and others in the bail statement.

‘Acid attack survivors can move state legal services’: the Supreme Court

In another development, the Superior Court said Thursday Acid attack survivors could approach its respective state authority of legal services in case there were a delay in receiving compensation.

According to a PTI report, a bank comprising the president of the Supreme Court Sanjiv Khanna and Judge Sanjay Kumar took note of the presentations of the lawyer of the NGO acid survivors based in Mumbai Sahas Foundation that such survivors found it difficult to receive compensation from the authorities in Maharashtra.

“Simply contact the state authorities of Legal Services (SLSA),” said the CJI.

The Bank added: “The victims will be free to address the state legal services authorities in case of delay in compensation payment.”
