The Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee asks the Israeli assault immediately to Gaza

Ankara

An Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee on Thursday requested the international community to intervene immediately to press Israel to stop its assaults in the Gaza Strip and reopen the crosses of the territory.

The Committee includes the foreign ministers of Türkiye, Palestine, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Qatar, Bahrain, Indonesia, Nigeria and the General Secretaries of the Arab League and the Islamic Cooperation Organization.

In a statement, the Committee strongly condemned Israeli raids in Gaza and “their direct bombing of areas populated by unarmed civilians, which resulted in the deaths and injuries of hundreds of Palestinians.”

“These raids constitute a clear violation of the high fire agreement in the Gaza Strip and a violation of UN resolutions (…) and international humanitarian law, which exacerbates the deteriorated humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip,” he said.

More than 500 Palestinians were killed and hundreds injured in renewed Israeli plane attacks in the Gaza Strip since Tuesday, destroying the high fire agreement and the prisoners who seized January.

The Committee warned that the Israeli assault “raises a serious threat to the security and stability of the region, and an escalation that increases the threat of a broader conflict in the region, undermining efforts to unwind tensions and achieve stability in the region.”

He affirmed the urgent need for “a high sustainable fire in Gaza, end the Israeli climbing, the resumption dialogue and the high fire negotiations for the implementation of all stages of the high the fire agreement in Gaza.”

Almost 50,000 Palestinians have been killed, mostly women and children, and more than 112,000 injured in a brutal Israeli military campaign in Gaza since October 2023.

In November 2024, the International Criminal Court issued arrest orders for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a case of genocide in the International Court of Justice for its war in the enclave.
