Collection of funds launched to cover the costs after Kamloop’s wife dies, a severely injured husband in Jamaica – Kamloop News

Local woman dies abroad

The owner of a Kamloop business died and her husband suffered serious injuries while traveling abroad, and now the family is asking for help to cover the “overwhelming” costs of taking them home.

According to a GOFUNDMEJanice Wynnychuk died in an incident of motor vehicles while traveling in Jamaica, a place she visited annually for decades.

Wynnychuk was the owner of the local company Kamloops Esthetics and was the mother of the Kamloop-Thompson school district, Cole Hickson.

Her husband, Frank Stewart, was injured in the accident, which took place in the parish of St. Elizabeth.

“His wounds are devastating: his arms and legs are broken, his skull is fractured and has swelling in his brain, among other serious complications,” says Gofundme Post.

According A Jamaican media reportWynnychuk and Stewart rode on a motorcycle when he crashed with another vehicle.

Stewart is a retiree who moved to Kamloops with Wynnychuk of Shuswap about 27 years.

“We have discovered that his travel insurance expired, and the costs of medical care, transport and arrangements are overwhelming,” says Gofundme, written by Wynnychuk’s daughter.

“I am looking for help to take my mother home and support Frank on her long way to recovery.”

The objective of fundraising is to raise $ 20,000. Until now, more than $ 14,000 have been donated since the campaign was launched on Tuesday.
