The contracted workers used for Ghana’s general elections in December 2024 are still waiting for the payment of the Ghana Electoral Commission (CE).

Despite rapid payment guarantees after elections, workers have faced a three -month delay, causing significant financial difficulties.

The affected workers, whose remuneration varies between GH ¢ 800 and GH ¢ 2000 depending on their work descriptions, have appealed to President John Mahama to intervene and make sure they receive their salary.

Speaking in the morning program of Otec FM “Nyansapo”, organized by Isaac Osei Akoto, on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, under anonymity, one of the affected workers expressed their frustration for the delay and urged the EC to fulfill its obligation.

According to him, the payment delay “is not only causing financial difficulties to workers, but also threatens to dissuade others to participate in future CE tasks.”

“After the December elections, we have made several calls in the CE to pay the assignments they assured us when they recruited, but without response, which put us in financial difficulties,” he lamented.

He wondered why the EC, whose budget for the elections was approved by Parliament and, nevertheless, the electoral body has not been able to pay them.

“We would like President John Mahama to intervene to ensure that our assignments are paid to relieve our financial challenges,” he appealed passionately.
