The Ministry of Health in Gaza, administered by Hamas, said that a UN foreign worker was killed and five other seriously injured on Wednesday by an Israeli strike in its headquarters, since the Israeli army denied having hit a UN building.

A statement from the Ministry of Health said there was “one death and five serious injuries among foreign staff working for UN institutions … due to the bombing of their headquarters for the occupation in the central governance recently.”

He added that they had been taken to the Al-Aqsa Martyrs hospital.

AFP has not been able to confirm the information with the United Nations.

The AFPTV images of Deir El-Balah showed UN vehicles and an ambulance that transported three men to the Al-Aqsa hospital.

In a statement, Israel’s army denied hitting a UN building in Gaza, saying: “Contrary to reports, IDF (army) did not achieve a UN compound in Deir El-Balah.”

An army spokesman told AFP: “I confirm that there was no operational activity of the IDF there and that the IDF did not achieve the UN complex.”

The AFPTV images of the Al-Aqsa hospital showed two men who seemed to have leg injuries and a third with bandages in the arms and the abdomen and traces of blood on the chest.

Two of the injured wore bulletproof vests, and one wore a UNMA shirt, the United Nations Mining Service, below.

The Gaza Civil Defense Agency said early Wednesday that 13 people had been killed in Israeli air attacks in the Palestinian territory from midnight.

During the night between Monday and Tuesday, Israel launched a wave of strikes in Gaza, with much, the deadliest since a fragile fire entered into force on January 19.

The attacks killed more than 400 people, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health, which makes it one of the deadliest days since the beginning of the war caused by Hamas against Israel’s attack on October 7, 2023.

The Ministry of Health published a new number of deaths of the war with Israel on Wednesday, showing 970 additional deaths in 48 hours.

The number of the dead of the war in the Gaza registered by the Ministry at noon on Monday (1000 GMT) was 48,577. For noon Wednesday, the figure had increased to 49,547, he said.
