Ty Simpson will be “really good” according to the former Alabama Soccer teammate CJ Dippre

The recent Alabama soccer wing, CJ Dippre, has a unique perspective on the 2025 Quarterback competition.

He is no longer with the team because Dippre declared for The NFL 2025 draft. But he spent two seasons with Ty Simpson and a season with Austin Mack.

Do you think Simpson is ready to take the next step?

“Yes 100%,” Dippre said The last episode of “Beat Everything”, the Alabama Alabama Podcast of Al.com. “I thought that this last 2024 season throughout the practices, from 2023 to 2024, I thought Ty took the biggest step, from any of the team, I think they sat there and directed there.

Simpson has spent the last three seasons as a substitute field marshal for The Crimson Tide, first behind Bryce Young and then behind Jalen Milroe. Now Milroe has been declared for the NFL draft, so there is an opening.

Simpson is the oldest of the three Quarterbacks and has spent more time in university football. Dipre believes that Simpson will bring confidence, leadership and responsibility to the team in 2025.

“I think it’s going to be really good,” Dippre said.

As for Mack, Dippre a season with Washington’s transfer in 2024. Mack heads to his third season at the university level.

“He is definitely a talented child,” Dippre said. “It has a lot of potential.”

The third quarterback in the race is Keelon Russell of Five Stars. Dippre did not play with him, but Dippre heard “how good it is supposed to be.”

“I have not been in a practice, so I don’t know much about him,” Dippre said. “I am sure to reach this level, to get to Alabama outside the high school, I would like to have that opportunity.

Dippre will appear in the episode on Thursday of “Beat everyone”, the Alabama football podcast of Al.com. Find it on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts.
