The recruitment process, considered not in accordance with the rules, has caused disturbances among the employees of the national carrier. “We are looking for the attention of President Pabowo and a solution from the state minister of state companies Erick Thahir,” said the general president of the Pilot Association of Indonesia, Ruli Wijaya, in a statement written on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

Ruli declared that the policy of the Board of Directors of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) TBK, which brought a group of former Lion Air employees and placed them within the Garuda management structure, has the potential to interrupt the main principles of corporate governance (GCG) of Garuda. “We are deeply concerned about this situation,” Ruli said.

He affirmed that the recruitment and placement of these 14 individuals were carried out in a non -transparent way. He added that this recruitment had the potential to violate the internal regulations and the principles of GCG.

“This policy has caused disturbances among all employees of Indonesia Garuda who currently maintain productivity and guarantee the sustainability of the company, since there is a discrepancy between the 14 individuals and internal employees, since it does not conform to the regulations of the company’s professional staircase.

According to him, Garuda Indonesia already has competent directors, internal human resources of quality, integrity and loyalty, and has also collaborated with professional recruitment consultants.

In addition, Ruli declared that this policy has the potential to create conflicts of interest, especially if it is carried out in a non -transparent way, without a clear commercial justification and without considering its impact on general business sustainability, internal human resources and the culture of the company.

“In fact, this process is more political, not based on needs, and neglects the ethical and integrity aspects of the company,” Ruli said.

According to Ruli, Garuda Indonesia employees have indicated that some of the 14 former Lion Air employees will receive strategic positions, even to the director’s level within the Indonesian Garuda Group.

Since the controversy around the recruitment of former Lion Air employees in Garuda Indonesia, public confidence and investors in Garuda Indonesia has continued to decrease. “The actions of PT Garuda Indonesia submerged in a minimum record of RP33 by action on March 18, 2025.
