The man faces the position of murder in the theft of Tampa that led to the death of the woman, the agents say.

An 18 -year -old Lutz man faces murders and other positions in relation to a violent robbery in a Tampa park in December that led to the death of a woman three months later, the agents said.

Antonio Luis Gueits was initially arrested with aggravated aggression and other positions on December 26, the same day he is accused of winning Cerida Charon, 65 and taking his bag, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s office.

Charon died Sunday for his wounds and prosecutors added a first -degree murder position.

The surveillance video obtained by Detectives showed Gueits who approached Charon shortly before 4 in the morning, since he sat on a bank in the community park of the University area in North 22nd Street, according to a motion of prosecutors presented on Tuesday to keep the Gueits in the prison pending trial. Seconds later, Charon gets up and “falls” from Gueits, who then hits her in the face, causing him to fall, according to the movement.

The video shows Gueits trampling and kicking Chaon while listening to the ground, depending on the motion. While Charon is unconscious, Gueits rummage through Charon’s belongings, take his bag and leaves.

Minutes later, the video shows, Gueits returns, lifts the upper part of Chaon’s body and then hits it to the ground while it is still unconscious, according to the judicial document. Then he dragged Charon on the legs and moved it at a short distance, then rolled a shopping cart that contained his belongings to his body, knocked down the car, kicked Charon again and left, says the movement.

Charon was taken to a local hospital and diagnosed with brain bleeding and facial fractures.

A detective identified Gueits of the video and stopped him later that day at his home in Irene Street, a mile north of the park.

Gueits confirmed that he was the man in the video and “said that during the heat of the moment he felt well as he hit her … because he felt good to get his anger,” says the movement.

Gueits was arrested for robbery charges, aggravated battery of a person over 65 who causes great body damage and a serious crime battery.

After a period in the Intensive Care Unit at the General Hospital of Tampa, Charon was transferred on February 24 to a long -term acute care center. Four days later, alert but unable to speak, Charon told a written detective that he did not remember what happened. It was transferred to a long -term care center in Clearwater later that day.

On Wednesday, Charon was transferred to the Morton Plant hospital, and died there four days later. An autopsy determined that his cause of death was complications of forceful trauma to the head inflicted during an assault.

In January, before Chaon’s death, the public defender of Gueits successfully argued that his bonus, then settled by $ 100,000, should be reduced. Gueits had no money or source of income and was trying to complete his diploma of general equivalence, and with the help of his family he could pay $ 2,500, said the motion. The records show that Judge J. Logan Murphy reduced the bonus to $ 76,000.

Gueits has remained in jail since his arrest.

In the motion of preventive detention, prosecutors point out that Gueits have several previous convictions for violent crimes, including aggravated assault with a weapon and nine battery convictions. Gueits has also violated his probation at least five times and did not appear before the court at least twice, according to the motion.

A audience on the motion is scheduled for Thursday.
