“The seats reserved for poor students in educational institutions will be filled,” says Bihar CM Niten Kumar in the state assembly

Patna: Bihar Prime Minister Nithis Kumar told the State Assembly on Tuesday to take measures to fill the seats reserved for economically weaker sections in accordance with the Law on Education.

The chamber leader increased to intervene during a heated word exchange between the ruling and opposition members on vacant reserved seats in private educational institutions in Patna.

The Assembly witnessed members of the RJD, the main opposition party, entering the well of the house, shouting slogans against what they called “education mafia.”

The uproar took place within a few minutes of the beginning of the procedures of the day, when RJD Mlait Yadav raised the issue of reserved seats, in Patna’s private educational institutions, remaining vacant.

He also looked for details of the district of such vacancies and a statement about what steps were being taken.

“The Government was taking corrective measures,” says Bihar Educational Minister Sunil Kumar

The Minister of Education, Sunil Kumar, told the Chamber that the government was taking corrective measures, but failed to satisfy the members of the opposition, who also raised slogans against the prime minister.

The main minister applauded several times mockingly, before standing up and say: “If you condemn me, I will applaud you. You can continue. But if you have a specific complaint, giving me in writing. It will be analyzed.”

Kumar said: “According to the Law on Education, 20 percent of the seats must be reserved for students with economically weaker sections. I am ordering interested officials to analyze the subject thoroughly and take the necessary measures.”
