Man imprisoned by indecent images of children

Liam Mcilroy, 46, had also exchanged indecent messages with others through the Internet. He said he couldn’t remember having downloaded the photos because he was drunk.

After being accused, he made an attempt in his life, but lawyer Amy Davies, defending, said the police could intervene.

Mcilroy declared himself guilty of a total of seven positions, three to make indecent images of children and four to send messages of an indecent character on the telecommunications network.

The lawyer Chris Dunford, prosecuting, said that the images and messages were found after the police carried out a search in Mcilroy’s house.

Devices were seized in which a total of 16 images were found that had been received through the application of Chat Kik.

The indecent images of children are described in a C at an upward scale in terms of their gravity and the numbers found in this case were six, six and four respectively.

The indecent message had taken place on the Discord application. He had discussed sexual behavior fantasies with children.

Mcilroy was ashamed of his behavior, said lawyer Davies.

He had experienced periods of isolation in his life that had led him to resort to excessive alcohol consumption, and at the time of his arrest he could be better described as an alcoholic in operation.

None of the images was sent to anyone else and there were few, said lawyer Davies

The discord chats were a game of fantasy roles with another adult, in which one of them would pretend to be a child. They were not destined to be seen by others nor were they sent to anyone else.

Mcilroy was now alcohol free after his time in custody.

He no longer felt his only option was damaged, he said.

He had lost his job, his home and was now separated from his brothers as a result of crimes, he said.

But she was hope to find a job if she was not sent to prison and she requested a suspended sentence.

The sheriff said that the court considered indecent images of children as abhorrent and that the sentence needed to have a deterrent element.

He treated messages as an aggravating factor in the offenses of the images.

Being intoxicated at the time of downloads was irrelevant, he said.

“It is important that all, including you, be responsible for your actions, no matter how difficult your circumstances are,” he told the defendant.

“If you don’t have the control of yourself while you drink for oblivion, you are just to blame.”

Mcilroy was sentenced to two years, 12 months and five months for category A, B and C images respectively, and three months for each of the four messaging crimes. The sentences would be executed simultaneously, as of the date of their arrest in October.

It was also subject to a five -year sexual crime prevention order, an order of supervision and a notification order, also for five years.
