UW Rodeo teams open the spring season

Both Rodeo teams from the University of Wyoming opened the spring season last weekend dominating their respective divisions in Gillette College.

The cowboys stretched their general leadership of the Rocky Central Region (CRMR) about Casper College accumulating 640 points, while the T-Birds were 365 to place third. Central Wyoming College took the UW men secondly with 395 points.

The Cowgirls were so impressive at the time of stopping the impulse of the Gillette College season, scoring 520 points, while host Purghorns achieved 170, reducing the general advantage of CRMR of Gillette College. Laramie County Community College (LCCC) was second in Gillette with 425 points.

“I am very proud of the way our teams showed up to compete,” says UW Seth Glause coach. “They showed that they were prepared and ready to have a strong spring season.”

He says that one of the best results was that all members of the team of men and female contributed to the general score.

“It’s always great to get victories in the team,” he adds. “We are going to enjoy this and return in two weeks and prepare to do it again in Torrington.” Eastern Wyoming College organizes the next CRMR event from Friday to Sunday, March 28-30.

Directed by the general performance of Bodie Mattson, Sturgis, SD, the cowboys received annotations from the six teams of the points team. Mattson combined with the teammate, the company Coors, of Loveland, Colorado, to win the short Go and the general average of strings of the team. Mattson was also third in both rounds of a tone tone to place the third in the average.

Another team of the team came from a trio of Steer fighters: Rhett Witt, by Valentine, Nebrases, was the runner -up; Rio Nutter, from Rapid City, SD, placed fourth; and Jacob Wang, from Baker, Mont., added points of sixth place after winning the short Go. Dixon Tattrie of Youngstown, Alberta, Canada, rode to the room in the average of the chair Bronc; and Colton Farrow from Graybull divided the sixth place into the average hair riding.

UW had several people, not in the team of six men, who also occupied during the weekend competition: Stefan Tonita, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, was the runner -up of bulls; Brighton, Colorado, the brothers David and Sam Gallagher were third and fifth, respectively, in wrestling; and Sam Gallagher combined with Heeler Trevor Sorge, by Gillette College, to place the sixth in the team.

The Cowboys opened their general advantage of CRMR over Casper College. UW has 3,110 points through six rodeos, while the T-Birds are the following with 2,798.33 points and Gillette College is third with 1,818.33.

The Cowgirls also had the champion in general when Landry Haugen Rapid, City, SD, placed in the three female events. She won the escape rope competition; It was fourth in the tied of the goat; and took the fifth in the barrel races.

The teammate Riata Day, from Fleming, Colorado, dominated the tied of goats, sweeping both rounds of competition to take the average. Josie Mousel, of, Colman, SD; He was sixth in the average goat tied; And Rayne Grant of Wheatland was the winner of the sixth place of the average barrel racing.

UW had several people, not in the four -member female points team, were also located during the weekend competition: Makenzi Scott of Rock Springs was the runner -up of racing barrel; Molly Rotenberger, from Ludlow, SD, who was the reserve champion, was fourth in the barrel races; And his teammate Emme Norsworthy was a return place. The CRMR leader of the entire season, Gillette College, has 2,598.30 team points in total, but the cowboys accumulated in the advantage of the Proforns and now have 2,063.30 points. LCCC is a distant third with 813 points.
