Martin Brundle is divided into Lewis Hamilton after Ferrari’s disastrous debut

The beginning of Lewis Hamilton with Ferrari this season has been a very anticipated moment not only for Tifosi, but for fans of Formula 1 in general, since everyone was eager to see how the former Mercedes pilot went to.

However, Australia’s Grand Prix turned out to be a difficult beginning for Hamilton, with Martin Brundle delivering pointed criticism after the race.

Hamilton’s first race with Ferrari threw a tenth disappointing place, at the end of the expectations surrounding the Scuderia. Starting the P8, just a place behind his teammate Charles Leclerc, the pilot fought to push the wet race. He spent too much time behind Alex Albon while trying to move to Williams’s driver, even though his car was faster on paper.

“I was advancing the pilots in every corner, I thought I could keep my car on the way,” he said after the race.

Discussing his performance during the race weekend, he said the following:

“From the moment I got into the car on Friday, I didn’t have much confidence (in the car), especially at high speeds. On Saturday, trust returned. I was building, building and building. Then we arrived at the race, and once again, starting from scratch, I had no confidence, even in the adjustments, and the car was very difficult to drive.”

Hamilton’s car received damage to Oscar Piastri’s front to the end of the race, which only makes his Australian campaign more difficult.

Ferrari’s strategy also took a turn, with both pilots fighting with their tires as climatic conditions continued to change throughout the race. But were Hamilton’s radio broadcasts that the F1 driver became a great Martin Brundle was anxious to point in his column with Sky Sports F1.

“I don’t understand why Lewis was so distressed with his engineer Riccardo Adami, who felt that I was simply trying to transmit relevant and useful information. Everything crumbled for Ferrari when they rolled the dice on dry tires on a wet track and lost a lot in the position of the track for both drivers, and left Australia seventh in the championship.”

In addition to this, Brundle offers a scathing criticism of Hamilton’s performance in his first race weekend with the Italian team.

“Despite many happy words and reasons why he had to learn his steering wheel and other new aspects, Lewis Hamilton had a disappointing beginning in his Ferrari career for any metric.

“Eighth in the grid behind his Leclerc teammate, losing a little in the first corner and following Williams by Alex Albon for what looked like an age, and then passing the outside of the rapid turn nine by a spectacular recovery piastri in the last round, recording Lewis to a point in the 10th place, it was where he should be where he should be.”
