An army officer and his son were allegedly beaten by police officers by a Punjab Patiala parking dispute. The incident that was captured in CCTV occurred outside a road restaurant on Patiala on March 13.

According to an NDTV report, the assault occurred after a discussion broke out when police staff with civil clothing asked the army officer to move his vehicle. When Colonel Pushpinder Bath opposed the tone of his voice and then the police supposedly hit and kicked the officer. When the son tried to intervene, the police supposedly also assaulted him. The report says that the police also used baseball bats to attack the officer.
CCTV’s footage shows the attacker taking a person from the car and then kicking and hitting the person.
Father Son Duo under treatment
A report by India Today, says that both the army officer and his son are receiving treatment at the Rajendra hospital in Patiala. According to the report, the son says that when he tried to intervene, the police hit them with ‘sticks, rods and baseball bats’. He also said they had passed out and when they woke up, the police were still beating them.
He also said that the attackers became more aggressive when he pointed out that they were drunk. According to him, the assault lasted 45 minutes.
The officer’s family said that despite CCTV images, the police did not take measures.
After repeated complaints, the police suspended the accused police. The senior police officer, Dr. Nanak Singh, said that 12 police have been suspended and that a departmental investigation has been ordered against them. He added that the investigation will be completed in 45 days.

There have always been cordial relations between the police and the unity of the local army and we will guarantee a strict action against those guilty … 12 Police personnel have been suspended by departmental investigation, which will be linked and completed within 45 days,” SSP Nanak Singh Singh
