Man arrested as two seriously injured pedestrians in the Donegal incident

Two people have been seriously injured after being run over by a car in Donegal.

Gardaí is investigating the incident that occurred at Lower Main Street in Letterkenny at 3 in the morning on Monday.

The two pedestrians, both men, have been taken to the Hospital of the University of Letterkenny for the treatment of serious injuries.

The driver of the car, a man aged in his adolescence, was arrested on the scene and remains in custody.

There had already been an interaction between Gardaí and the driver before the incident, said a spokesman. As a result, the matter has been sent to the Ombudsman of Garda.

The scene is currently preserved for the Technical Exam of Garda Forensics.

Gardaí is asking that witnesses to this incident.

A spokesman issued an appeal for road users who could have camera images and traveled in the area between 2.30 am and 3.30 am Monday morning to make it available.

In particular, Gardaí is attractive to anyone in the area between Dry Arch Roundabout and Oldtown Road at that time.
