Sandimar Peel imprisoned for four years on Broome Break-in and Gasoby Station Ram Raid

A Judge of Western Australia has said that people in the Kimberley are “completely sick” that their homes break while sentenced a man for more than four years in jail for a terrifying robbery.

The comments were made during the judgment of the Broome District Court of Sandimar Peel, 21, Monday.

The Bidyadanga man declared himself guilty of five positions, including the theft of aggravated housing, stealing a motorized vehicle and illegally destroying or damaging the property.

The court heard that Peel and four minors broke into a Clementson Street business with steel on November 5, 2023.

Five people were asleep in the house in the back of the business when one of Peel’s groups threw a large rock through a glass door.

No one was injured during the robbery, but Peel approached one of the residents of the residents and broke the door in half.

He took the keys of the woman’s car and the group left in the vehicle stolen when ramming the property door.

During the sentence, Judge Gary Massey said it was clear that there was extensive damage to property and that the glass was “scattered” throughout the house.

In reference to the impact statements of the victims, he said that one of the women hurt his neck when Peel knocked down the door and that the theft had a psychological impact.

“I was scared, trembling, I couldn’t sleep,” Judge Massey said.

“When he commits crimes, you affect other people … you probably don’t even think about it.”

He said that the sense of safety and safety of residents was “destroyed.”

“(The victims were) … they all gathered,” Judge Massey said.

They were so terrified.

He said that Kimberley’s community was “completely fed up for people to break in the houses.”

Raid Ramololine Station

The Group committed a second robbery when the door of a service station about 200 meters from Clementson Street.

Judge Massey said that CCTV showed Peel leaving the service station with two cigarette trays and returning to the stolen vehicle, which was later abandoned in Bushland Off Port Drive.

“If you wonder, what did you get from that?” Judge Massey said.

“Some cigarettes: is it worth spending time in jail for cigarettes and lollipops?

“I thought the answer to that would be no.”

The court heard that Peel was intoxicated at that time.

He was sentenced to four years and four months after bars and will be eligible for probation in May 2027.

One of the children involved was sentenced last year to six months of detention.

The other three were referred to the youth justice team.
