Knight … The situation in Sheckles is that people feed the cows and goats there, and choose to go to the tank and bathe.

The National Water Commission (NWC) says that it is taking serious accusations that people bathe in a tank used to store water in the ships, Clarendon.

The issue was raised by the councilor for the Toll Godfrey Knight (National Popular Party) port division at the monthly meeting of the monthly meeting last Thursday of the Clarendon Municipal Corporation.

“There is a situation in the vests where people bathe in the storage tank. It used to happen in Ebony Park and we had to cut the stairs to go (at the entrance of the tank).

“The situation in Sheckles is that people feed the cows and goats there, and choose to enter the tank and bathe. I want the representative to take it and monitor it to stop these people, especially those who feed cows and goats, ”said Knight.

The NWC tank in Sheckles stores water that has been treated before distribution to residents.

With the people who bathe in the water, this presents a great risk of public health, and the leader of the NWC zone team in Clarendon, Devon Johnson, told the corporation that the accusation is being taken seriously and that it will be treated urgently.

“The accusation that people bathe in the tank in Sheckles is serious and we are taking it very, very serious. Our facilities are very safe but, over time, some of them have lost their safety due to vandalization, ”said Johnson.

According to Johnson, a similar installation was closed on the toll door, but the fencing was destroyed by vandals.

“We close that place very well, and people enter and remove the cables and posts. (These are) the same people we are ensuring water to be safe.

“Civic pride is gone. Because it eliminates all those fences, it knocks down the post and then cries us that the place is not safe. The NWC does not have the resources to continue seeing these facilities again, ”added Johnson.

He told the corporation that a team will lead to Schekles as part of an investigation.

“It is very worrying to hear that people are bathing in the tank. We have to move immediately. And whatever is necessary to ensure it, we have to do it, ”said Johnson.
