China’s Olympic and Shi Yuqi champion continues to fly high with excellent performances in the All-England

London (Bernama-Xinhua): Shi Yuqi from China is a victory of his second Badminton All England title, since the best sown defeated his teammate Li Shifng 21-9, 20-22 and 21-19 on Saturday.

Top sowing a South Korean se-Young, the current Olympic champion, is also in good shape and aims to win his fourth title of the year in All-England.

In the male section, Shi, 29, lost to Li in the finals of All England and Asian Games in 2023. Since then, he has surpassed the 25 -year -old in his three meetings.

Shi took the opening game easily, but faced strong challenges of the sixth seed in the next two games.

“The last two games were balanced. We both played at a high level and in the end we were extremely tired,” said Shi, who reached the final for the fourth time in Birmingham.

The 2018 champion will face Lee Chia-Hao from China Taipei in the final when Lee surpassed French hope Alex Lanier 19-21, 21-14, 21-17.

The female final will be played between the upper seed and the second seed of China, Wang Zhiyi.

In the semifinals, the Olympic champion of Paris, a third Japanese sown, Akane Yamaguchi, 21-12, 21-17, while Wang saw his fourth teammate planted Han Yue 21-10, 21-19.

Wang said he hoped to play against An, who has secured three titles in a row this year.

“I know he is undefeated since the beginning of this year, but I feel that I am also in good shape,” said Wang, 24 years old.

Meanwhile, Guo Xinwa/Chen Fanghui and Feng Yanzhe/Wei Yaxin have secured the gold double medal medal for China.

Nami Matsuyama/Chiharu Shida and his Japanese teammates Yuki Fukushima/Mayu Matsumoto will block horns in the final of female doubles.

The Indonesian couple Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana will fight for the title of male doubles against Seo Seung-Jae/Kim Won-Ho of South Korea. – Bernama-Xinhua
