A grandmother was shot dead on her sofa while watching television with her grandson after her boyfriend suddenly appeared and opened fire.

Karol Bedoya, 44, died sitting next to the terrified two -year -old girl while her son, the child’s father, was in the basement and was helpless to save her.

Her 10-year-old boyfriend, Clemente Flores-Hernández, 45, shot him four times a short second after entering the house in Denver on February 4, 2023.

Bedoya’s adult son, Miguel Bedoya, heard the shots and ran the stairs in a panic around 8 pm, only to be confronted by the still armed murderer.

“I just hear go to Boom, Boom,” he told local media.

He told the police that the murderer shot him several times until his weapon was empty but lost, and fought hand in hand until Miguel was almost strangled.

Flores-Hernández let him go before he ran out of air, then grabbed the child and fled at night.

Miguel pursued and was able to keep Flores Hernández in sight enough to alert the police about his location, until his car ran out of gas.

The murderer fled the police in a high-speed persecution along the I-70 until the police exploded their tires deploying peaks on the road.

Flores-Hernández was arrested in Strasburg, a city 30 miles east of Denver, and the child was rescued unharmed.

Originally he was accused of first degree murder, attempted first -degree murder and kidnapping of first degree, and child abuse, but begged the second degree murder and a first degree assault.

Flores -Hernández was still imprisoned for 60 years, 48 ​​years for killing Bedoya and 12 years to assault his son, to execute consecutively.

Bedoya’s brother -in -law, Rodrigo Anguiano, said he maintained the relationship problems in secret, but he saw something she gave him in the last three months.

Anguiano said he was afraid of Flores Hernández and tried to leave him.

Denver’s district prosecutor, John Walsh, held the sentence and expressed his condolence for Bedoya’s family and friends.

“The murder of Karol Bedoya is another terrible reminder of the tragic domestic violence of tolls to our community and our families,” he said.

“We hope that today’s statement and guilt prayer provides some comfort to Karol’s family and friends.”
