Sammy Smith wins the first 2025 xfinity pole in Las Vegas

Sammy Smith made his way to his first position of the pole Nascar Xfinity Series of the 2025 season for Liuna! In Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Friday, March 14.

The initial alignment of the event was determined through a standard practice and a qualification procedure. The field was divided into two 25 -minute practice sessions. Next, the field united strength to participate in a single round qualification session (confusion). The groups and the qualification order were determined by metrics that included 70% depending on the end of the previous race by the owner and 30% depending on the classification of points of the owner, with the competitors with the best score located in the second group.

XFINITY series Pole winner

Smith was the third competitor faster during the practice session on Friday. He followed him with a winning turn of posts at 183,455 mph at 29,435 seconds during the qualification at his entrance as Chevrolet Camaro Chevrolet Chevrolet Chevrolet Chevrolet Chevrolet, claiming the starting place. He beat his teammate, Carson Kvapil, for 0.067 seconds.

The twice champion of the Arca Menards East and the two -time winner of the Johnston Xfinity series, Iowa, achieved his third race pole in the division and the first since November 2023 in Martinsville Speedway. Smith, which is in its second full time season in the series, driving the Chevrolet entrance No. 8 For JR Motorsports, he is currently in fifth in the driver’s classification while he strives to compete for his first victory of the year for Saturday’s main event in Sin City.

We have really tried to focus on qualifying these last races just to try to help our initial position. Tomorrow’s goal, he continued, “is to maintain (the car) in front and, hopefully, we can end here.”

Smith will share the front row with Carson Kvapil, the last of which registered its best qualification turn to 183.038 MPH in 29,502 seconds. Although it was a less position than claiming his first pole Xfinity, Kvapil achieved his first starting point of the front row for an Xfinity event and emerged as the highest xfinity rookie for the main event.

Qualifying

The rookie Connor Zilisch, who is also a teammate JR Motorsports by Sammy Smith and Carson Kvapil, will begin in third place with a qualifying return to 182,655 MPH in 29,564 seconds. Previously, Zilisch was the fastest competitor during the event’s practice session. The rookie Taylor Gray and Sam Mayer will begin among the top five, respectively.

Justin Allgaier, the current Xfinity series champion and a teammate from JR Motorsports to Smith, Kvapil and Zilisch, will start in sixth place. Jesse Love, rookie William Sawalich, rookie Nick Sánchez and Jeb Burton completed the best initial places.

Aric Almirola, the winner of the XFINITY event last weekend in Phoenix Raceway, will align in 11th place and share the sixth row with Parker Retzlaff.

In addition, the following names that included Jeremy Clements, Austin Hill, Brandon Jones, rookie Christian Eckes, Harrison Burton, Matt Dibenedetto, Ryan Sieg, Anthony Alfredo, Sheldon Creed, Josh Williams, the Rookie Dean Thompson and Austin Green will begin 17, 18, 19, 19, 22nd, 22nd, 22nd, 22nd, 22nd, will begin on 13, 14, 17, 18, 19º, 20 24, 28 and 36, respectively.
