The series was written by actor Stephen Graham, along with Jack Thorne, with Philip Barantini directing. Explore the harmful effects of toxic masculinity that belittles the expectations of girls and deform the expectations of boys.

He said: “I have a seven -year -old daughter and some of the things I was discovering while we were doing the investigation left me terrified for her future. I felt we were opening a can of worms about what today’s children are happening.

“When it grew if you had a problem with someone who solved it in the recreation courtyard, then went home and forgot it, but now social networks make it impossible.”

The three key creatives: Phil, Jack, who has a nine -year -old son, and Stephen, whose children are 18 and 20 years old, spent a considerable time discussing the issues of the program. Jack added: “Ultimately, for all of us, the central theme was about male anger and alienation, particularly the male alienation of the working class and the ways in which social networks are the flames.

“It is marginalizing our young people and making them feel separate, it gives them reasons to hate and preach that manipulating girls is the way to succeed with them.

“If you go to any of those sites, and it was an education for us to do that, it doesn’t take you for a long time to finish in some really worrying areas.”

The ‘Top Boy’ actor, Ashley Walters, who plays Di Luke Bascombe in the successful series, expressed an enriching instinct towards the young star Owen Cooper, declaring: “I almost adopted it because with those skills you could put it to work (laughs). Really, you have to be really skilled, endowed and perhaps a little beyond your years to do what he did.”

In a conversation, Walters revealed his admiration for Cooper’s maturity and approach to act, saying: “When you speak to him, he has a level of maturity and you can understand why he is able to achieve that level of performance because he is very quiet, very methodical.

“It is not there for the hype, it is there for the trade and, in my opinion, those are the best types of actors.”
