Inglewood, California (Kabc) – A suspect arrested in the deadly shooting of a groin man during a theft of catalytic converter faces federal charges for allegedly restarting the country after being deported, prosecutors announced on Friday.
José Christian Saravia-Sánchez, 30, from El Salvador, was arrested last week by Juan Sánchez’s murder in Inglewood. After the arrest, prosecutors say that the Federal Police discovered that the suspect had been deported in 2013 and returned to the United States illegally.
In a federal complaint, Saravia-Sánchez is accused of being in the illegal and illegal possession of a firearm, according to the office of the United States prosecutor.
The United States prosecutor’s office says that the criminal history of Saravia-Sánchez includes a sentence for serious crime in the Superior Court of Los Angeles in May 2023 for taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent.
On the morning of February 25, Juan Sánchez was shot dead when he tried to prevent two men from stealing a neighbor’s catalytic converter.
Saravia-Sánchez and a second suspect, Wilver Alberto Rabanales, were later arrested in relation to the murder.
When the arrest occurred, prosecutors say that the police found a firearm in the bathroom of a hotel room after a barricada situation that ended in the apprehension of Saravia-Sánchez.
Juan Sánchez was described in a Gofundme campaign as a “devout husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather and a friendly friend for many.”
