The Murang’a family wants the government to intervene after Vietnam’s daughter sentences to death for cocaine traffic

The Wangari purity, Margaret Nduta Macharia’s mother, who was sentenced to death in Vietnam for drug trafficking, speaks with journalists at home in the Karikwe village in Kiharu, Murang’a County.

A family in Karikwe’s village in Kiharu, Murang’a County, is pleading with the Kenyan government to intervene after his daughter, Margaret Nduta Macharia, was sentenced to death in Vietnam for drug trafficking.

The 37 -year -old man was convicted by the popular court of the city of Ho Chi Minh on March 6 after being convicted of smuggling of more than two kilograms of cocaine.

While Nduta was arrested in July 2023 while he was in transit to Laos, his family says he learned of his arrest and sentence through the Internet on March 8.

Her mother, Purity Wangari, wants the government to help her back to Kenya.

“It was the first time that my daughter was traveling abroad looking for more green pastures. I beg the authorities to help bring her home, even if that means serving her prayer locally, ”said Wangari.

“They gave her luggage that arrested her for a Kenyan man to take him to a woman abroad.”

The family hopes that Nduta can fulfill their sentence in Kenya to avoid execution in Vietnam in case of diplomatic intervention.
