BJP, Cong MP request a unified action to address the drug threat – Theprint –

Nueva Delhi, March 12 (PTI) MP of the KC Venufopal Congress and the BJP legislator, Anurag Thakur, raised urgent concerns about the growing threat of drugs in the country, asking for immediate and unified actions to address the crisis.

Speaking in Lok Sabha, Venufopal emphasized the devastating impact of drug threat, particularly in his native state of Kerala.

“Every day, we woke up with the news of drug -related crimes. The parents are terrified, the teachers are terrified and society is terrified. What we are witnessing are not simply the data but the impotence of a society and the silent erosion of our homes, ”he said.

Venufopal said that only in the last two months, 63 murders in Kerala were linked to drug abuse.

“The children are killing mothers, the brothers are killing the sisters. In the last four years, Kerala has registered more than 87,000 cases related to drugs, which leads to 93,599 arrests, ”he said.

In addition, he highlighted an increase of 300 percent in drug -related cases.

The deputy of the Congress also asked to discourage the glorification of violence in the films, which he believes that influences young minds.

“He urges the government of the Union, the application of the law, the educators, the community leaders and the social workers to join the hands and take comprehensive and immediate measures. We cannot leave our children to face this tragedy. As elected representatives, beyond political lines, we must address this concern seriously, ”said Venuge.

Echoing the concerns of Venufopal, the deputy of BJP, Anurag Thakur, acknowledged the seriousness of the problem and asked for a united effort to eradicate the threat of the drug.

“The problem posed by Venufopal Ji is very serious. The fight against drugs is not only the responsibility of central or state governments, but also of society, educators and all interested parties. We must unite to eliminate the drugs from the roots and save our youth, ensuring a safe and empowered future for India, ”said Thakur.

He also highlighted delays in the construction of a central university in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh.

He pointed out that although the central government had assigned RS 500 million rupees for the project, the delays in the allocation of land and forest elimination by the state government had hindered progress.

“16 years have passed since the project was approved, but only a temporary campus is operational. I urge the Minister of Education to convene an immediate meeting to ensure that the project is completed within the stipulated time, ”he added. PTI UZM UZM TIR TIR
