One seriously injured in the basketball court of the Tuscaloosa Activity Center

A person was seriously injured after a shooting on Tuesday afternoon in a center of activities in Tuscaloosa, authorities said.

The Tuscaloosa County agents, the Tuscaloosa Police and the Violent Crimes Unit of Tuscaloosa County responded to the shooting around 4 pm on Tuesday in the Bobby Miller Activity CenterDirected by the Park Recreation Authority and Recreation of Tuscaloosa County.

The victim, only identified as a man, was in a group involved in a fight on the basketball court of the activity center when the shooting was developed inside the building near an exit door, said Captain Jack Kennedy of the violent crimes unit.

The victim was taken by a private vehicle to the DCH hospital in serious condition, Kennedy said.

The incident remained under investigation on Tuesday night.

Anyone was asked to witness the shooting to be called to the Violent Crimes Unit at 205-464-9690.
