Actionansa recently expressed concern about the state of Rand West City road infrastructure and requested a decisive action.

According to a statement issued by the Secretary of the West West region of Actiona Rand, Dauw Steyn, the party was horrified by the condition of the roads after making a tour from Randfontein to Westonaria.

In addition, he declared that he does not see efforts to board the potholes and roads that have now become gravel roads due to the lack of maintenance. He also mentioned that this causes traffic congestion and an increase in traffic accidents.

In Hillside and Wheatlands, where the infrastructure of the new Mega City project was developed, none of those paths has been reinstalled and allowed to deteriorate.

“The failure of the municipality to maintain and improve its infrastructure has resulted in roads that are not only impassable, but also represent a significant risk for the safety of residents. The provincial government has not provided any leadership or direction, ”Dauw said.

“The current state of the roads is unacceptable, and demands immediate attention.”

He demanded that the local municipality of Rand West City immediately:

• Urgent evaluation of the current state of the roads and prioritizes the areas for repair
• Develop a plan to update and maintain infrastructure with a clear timeline and budget
• Provides periodic updates to the community regarding maintenance progress

The municipality has been contacted to comment on March 4, while no response has been given. If there is a comment, an exhaustive update will follow.
