Nascar Phoenix winners and losers

Winner: Christopher Bell

What the beginning of the season for Bell, who has been ready to take the mantle as the best driver of the sport.

But he had to win it in the final restart.

In a white green restart, Denny Hamlin was even with Bell during the last two laps. But Bell leaned on his Racing teammate in Joe Gibbs and the final corner for his third consecutive victory prevailed.

Bell is the first pilot from Kyle Larson in 2021 to win three in a row. It’s time to take Bell seriously when talking about Nascar’s best drivers. In fact, the conversation now begins with him.

Winner: Josh Berry

Josh Berry had a strong stage 1 after a good classification race, then slid towards the rear of the top 20 in the middle 150 laps of Sunday’s race.

But No. 21 Wood Brothers Racing Ford took off in the final race with the fresh option tires in the car, and ended the best room of the season.

Both Berry and Wood Brothers entered 2025 with something to try after disappointing seasons of 2024. The result of Sunday and the race are very encouraging.

Winner: Hendrick Motorsports

The unfortunate stop of the William Byron well before a caution that leads to Tire’s final race stole Hendrick Motorsports of his best opportunity to win.

But Byron, Kyle Larson, Alex Bowman and Chase Elliott ended up in the top 10, with Larson finishing a third team in the third place behind the Hamlin-Bell duel to the checkered flag.

Byron and Larson were in the top 10 for most of the day, and Bowman (7th) led to Top 10 in the last 100 laps. But Elliott, who ended tenth, was plunged into adolescence all day before a final jolt in the last two restarted to obtain a Top 10.

Bell has the headlines as he should, but Hendrick Motorsports has had an encouraging start by 2025.

Loser: Spire Motorsports

Spire Motorsports as a whole had a very encouraging Saturday in Phoenix Raceway. The three -car racing team was fast in practice, and the three cars were classified within the Top 10.

But Sunday’s career was not so good. Carson Hovar achieved four stage points with a seventh place in stage 1, but Spire’s career was downhill in stage 2 with consecutive precautions.

Michael McDowell, in the softest option tires, cut the right tire and hit the wall on Tour 92. The McDowell team had to make significant repairs, and finished 27 with 22 turns down.

In the restart, Justin Haley and Hovar were involved in an accident of several cars when Briscoe, Haley and Ty Gibbs combined leaving shift 2. Haley and Hocevar were made during the day, ending 34 and 36 respectively.

For the optimism of Saturday’s progress, Sunday’s career left few positive aspects for Spire Motorsports.

Loser: Brad Kesowski

Brad Keselowski needed a good race and ending on Sunday, but did not understand.

Keselowski was involved in the clash of several cars mentioned above in stage 2, and his day ended with a DNF in place 33.

The first month of the season has been bad for the co -owner of RFK Racing after the finals of 26, 39 and 15 on the weekend. This result is not helpful.

Loser: Ty Gibbs

The long day of Gibbs was becoming positive for Sunday’s race, until it was.

Gibbs was caught in the accident of several cars that ended the days of Keselowski and the two needle pilots, and could not stay at the main return at the end of stage 2. After returning to the main return, Gibbs used fresh tires to move towards Top 15.

But Gibbs day ended eight laps below the entire distance when their brakes failed, cutting a tire down and hitting the wall. His day ended with a DNF and a position 25.

Gibbs needed a good day better than any driver in Phoenix; The day entered at 36 at back points of 16, 32 and 34 to open the season. Forget the pressures to win the first race of his Cup Cup season, because Gibbs can already be winner of the 2025 playoffs.
