In a Exclusive interview with the mirrorHis brother Paul Maudsley, 74, said: “He has been rejecting food since last Friday, so we are very concerned about him. He called me from the prison that day and sounded angry and anxious. He told me: ‘I’m going hungry, so don’t surprise yourself if this is the last time I call you.’

“He used to have access to a phone inside his cell, but has stopped calling us again, so we believe they must have removed it. Bob is 71 years old, so we don’t know how long he can survive without food. ”

It is believed that the hunger strike was caused by an “operating exercise” that took place in Wakefield on February 26.

He once compared his cell to “how to be buried alive in a coffin.” He became the oldest prisoner in the United Kingdom after the death of the murderer of the Moors Ian Brady, who turned 51 years in prison and died in 2017.

“For some reason, the main prison returned to normal after the operational exercise, but the Bob section was out for a couple of days. Bob complained and is normally educated, but prison officers accused him of being abusive. When he finally returned to his cell, they had taken everything: his TV, PlayStationBooks and radio.
