1 dead, 1 wounded in domestic assault, incident of barricada in whittemore

Whittemore, Mich. (Wnem) – A suspect died and a victim was seriously injured in an incident of criminal domestic assault in Whittemore on Wednesday night, March 5, according to the Michigan State Police (MSP).

MSP said that West Branch post soldiers responded to a house in the 300 block of North Street at 3:45 pm

Police said the victim was able to leave the house after suffering serious but not potentially fatal injuries. The victim is receiving medical treatment and is in good condition, according to MSP.

When the soldiers arrived, the 45 -year -old suspect was locked inside the house. After the emergency support team tried to make contact for several hours, the soldiers found the dead man in the attached garage.

No other injuries were reported, and the incident is under investigation.
